Weladampoe named by the Malabars and by the Sinhalese Elabintamboeroe, and by the Dutch Salsaparil, is a ground-creeping vine. The vine is dried and boiled with China root (Smilax china) and drunk as an effective blood purifying treatment. It also heals the smallpox and all external ulcers and scabies. They grow plentiful on Gale, but little elsewhere.
