Note | At the foothills of Mt Arjuna to the north east of Malang, is one of only two known examples of a Buddhist stupa in East Java, the other being Candi Dadi in the region of Tulungagung. Dated at late 14th-early 15th century. Identified with Kasurangganan (garden of heavenly nymphs), mentioned in the Nagarakertagama as having been visited by King Hayam Wuruk of Majapahit in 1359. |
