Note | This imperial edict honours the parents of a Chinese official named Zhao Fan (1543-1617). 31 columns of text are written in standard script on a silk scroll manufactured in 1578. The text itself is dated November 26, 1582. Two imperial seals are visible at the end of the text, along with a registration number and the personal seal of Robert van Gulik. The scroll has four sections of different coloration and bears cloud-like patterns. Edges are damaged and two characters are missing. |
