Collection of 61 photographic prints and 2 slides by Dr Herman Henry Dingemans, from the period 1945-1950, when he served for the second time as envoy to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah. Also two much earlier albumen prints by Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje. One group portrait (photo 061) of the Dutch colony of Jeddah (Albumen print) taken late 1884, in the courtyard of the Dutch Consulate in Jeddah, probably by Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje with the aid of a self-timer or by a servant and another group portrait (photo 042) with consul general Johannes Kruijt (left) and Pieter van der Chijs (right) of the Rotterdamsche Lloyd in Djeddah, 1885.
Some of the photographs are published in the book Dingemans 1973. On the back of some photographs information for the printer. Some are reproductions, many doubles.
In the box with the photographs: original envelope in which the photos were delivered with text: "Foto's i.v.m. Allahs Buren".
