Tropic of Cancer: Contemporary Chinese Avant-Garde Poets identifies itself as from Hangzhou, illustrating that unofficial poetry in China has many homes. It is safe to say there are few major cities without their local journals (and Tropic of Cancer is not the only Hangzhou journal, either). At the same time, the journal is in fact nationally inclusive. Like many other journals, Tropic of Cancer claims to be "for internal exchange" only, but it has definitely attained a certified position in literary history.
