Note	Liber amicorum, presented to Van de Sande Bakhuyzen in 1908. The album is truly monumental: bound in leather with metal locks, each of its 80 pages measures 52*63 cm. It contains almost 600 photos of astronomers, telescopes and observatories from all over the world. Many of the photos are signed. Among the portrayed scientists are H.A. Lorentz, H. de Vries, P. Zeeman, M. Planck, G.E. Hale, and more than 400 other famous and less famous scientists. They represent c. 100 institutes from 23 countries (1908 borders). It also contains an illuminated parchment title page and a painting of Leiden Observatory by Bakhuyzen’s brother Julius, a landscape painter from the Hague School.
