Abstract | The Middle Yayoi burial mound at Yoshinogari during excavation. The mound was constructed with hardened layers of pounded earth. About twenty jar burials seem to have been arranged within the mound, which was for several decades the resting place for the elite of Yoshinogari. The mound measured 40 m (north-south) by 26-30 m (east-west) and was 4,5 m high. In eight burials were found bronze swordsand glass beads. Yoshinogari Site, Kanzaki-gun, Saga-ken. |
