Abstract | The approach to the long stone passageway or corridor (sendô) leading to the burial chamber of Ishibutai kofun, Asukamura, Nara-ken. The tomb chamber had been built on top of a square platform supported by stone walls. The internal tomb structure, constructed with large granite slabs, was of a massive nature. The tombs was looted centuries ago, and little remained in the central burial chamber in terms of mortuary offerings aside from fragments of pottery. |
