Abstract | Quartzporphyry stone mould for bronze spearheads. L. 86,3 cm, W. 17,4 cm, D. 8,6 cm. Late Yayoi. Kogomine Site, Kasuga, Fukuoka-ken. The mould gives after casting an almost finished spearhead even when they were hardly polished. The spearhead was cast in steps and this mould is also divided in two parts: the blade and the spine (which gives the blade extra strength). Where the two parts meet the mould has a groove which probably would help to connect the parts. Kumano Shintô Shrine. |
