Abstract | Middle Yayoi ceramics. Globular pot with constricted neck (tsubo), H. 26,8 cm. Bowl on pedestal, H. 21,2 cm. Bowl, H. 9,5 cm, D. 19,6 cm. Pot with a wide mouth (kame), H. 25,5 cm, D. 18,7 cm. Decorated shard from a vessel, H. 17,7 cm, W. 8 cm. Karakokagi Site, Tawara-chô, Nara-ken. These vessels are representative for the pottery found at Karakokagi Site. Except for the globular pots (used for cooking) most vessels are decorated with a comb-pattern impressed in the still wet clay. Early Yayoi pottery was rather uniform in style but in the Middle Yayoi period there were regional differences in form and decoration. Tawaramoto-chô Board of Education. |
