Abstract | In Kurotsuka kofun, a keyhole mounded tomb in Tenri, Nara-ken, dating from the beginning of the early Kofun period, a tomb chamber was found which originally had contained a large wooden coffin. Inside the coffin the excavators found one mirror and outside the coffin 33 mirrors, iron weapons as swords, spears and arrowheads, body armour and axes and an u-shaped iron implement, all in their original position. The bronze mirrors found outside the coffin have a triangular rim and are decorated with a design with mythical creatures in the form of animals and dieties. |
