Abstract | Ceremonial stone implements. Final Jomon. L. (oval stone below) 12,3 cm. Various sites in Toyama-ken. In the Jomon period many so called "secondary tools" appear: implements with no clear practical function but which are probably associated with ritual, magic and ceremony. Clay figures which appeared in Initial Jomon and stone bars in Middle Jomon belong to this category as do stone objects which appear in the Final Joman in the form of personal ornaments, objects in the form of swords, pottery masks, stone and pottery plaques and polished stone objects with strange forms as bells, banana_s, mushrooms, crosses and others.
