Abstract | From the series: Selected treasures of the Lucky Gods (Fukujin takara awase). Signed: Eishi zu, Published by nishimura Yohachi, Censor seal: kiwame. See B&A 61, this series also associates beautiful woman with a classical theme; the pose of the woman is almost identical to that in the previous print. Here the classical theme consist of the seven lucky gods, who according to legend arrive in their treasureboat (takarabune) on the first morning of the New Year, bringing prosperity and happiness. This print is dedicated to Hotei, one ofthe seven gods. The large sack is associated with prosperity. |
