Title | "Namban" screen: the procession of Portuguese walking to the Christian church; half-way they are welcomed by three Jesuits and one Franciscan friar. Other Portuguese are coming out of the church gate. In the upper register: parts of the church complex, in which various religious activities (worship, confession, teaching) are taking place. According to Okamoto, "School of Kanô Mitsunobu". The right-hand screen of a pair of sixfold "namban" screens, late 16th, early 17th century. |
