Title | Two documents on the independence of Arabia. [1]: Hādhā manshūrunā al-ʿāmm ilá kāffat ikhwāninā al-muslimīn. A lithographed proclamation in Arabic by Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī, Sharif of Mecca and Emir of the Ḥijāz (c. 1853-1931), on the independence of Arabia, dated 25 Shaʿbān 1334 (27 June 1916). With a photograph of Emir Ḥusayn. - [2]: Hādhā khiṭābunā ilá ahl waṭaninā al-Ḥijāz. A handwritten proclamation in Arabic by ʿAlī Ḥaydar (1866-1935), the Ottoman-backed Sharif of Mecca, dated 10 Shawwāl 1334 (10 August 1916). The author signs his name and title in Turkish 'Mekke-i Mükerreme Emāreti' Or. 12.482 |
