| Title | Studio portrait of Zhen Fei, "the Pearl Concubine", favorite concubine of the Guangxu emperor. She has a typical Manchu hairstyle. In the year 1900 she was drowned at the age of 25 in a well in the back of the garden of the Ningshou gong at empress Cixi's command. One year later her remains were buried at Chongling, the tomb of the Guangxu emperor at Xiling, the imperial Western tombs of the Qing. |
