Salah ad-Dïn al-tfam al-Halabf al-Qadiff (d. 1109/1697), cf. GAL II, p. 244, S II, p. 472. There is no indication that the work actually is a translation, and the title of the Arabic original is mentioned in the heading preceding the text on p. 1 and in p. 2:21. The heading also informs us that the copy was made on the basis of a defective original and could only be completed in the future if a second copy of the text was found. The work is preceded by an introduction (pp. 1-3) with a digression on the ideas of the ‘§eyb-i ekber’ (cf. 1, above) which is not found in the original text (as, e.g., in F.Or. 35c[l], cf.
