The title and name of the author are mentioned in f. lb: 1; the author again mentions himself in f. 4b: 1, comparing himself to a cloud that carries the words of God’. The work is preceded by the author’s spiritual pedigree in Arabic going back to Pïr Hüdayï also known as ‘Aziz Mahmüd Efendi el-Üsküdarï (printed in Pertsch [Berlin], p. 164). The pedigree is followed by an introduction (mukaddime, cf. 4b: 1) to a collection of poems, which follows on f. 5a. It comprises a series of 140 gazels and kasldes in divan sequence (5a-64b). There
