The Dortmond collection of manuscripts and objects bearing inscriptions in various * Cp ipts has been acquired for the library of the Municipal University of Amsterdam in 1975. r Dortmond is a collectionneur interested in the variety of scripts which he has found in Use ' n Europe and Asia. The Javanese manuscripts which are described in the present catalogue form only a small part of his collection, which is the nucleus of a newly established Script Museum in the library of the University of Amsterdam.
