The text contains the story of Sultan Marit, son of Sultan Dzardzari of Ristan Negara and his consort, Marijah; Sultan Marit beats his pregnant wife on hearing an allegation by his female slave Arbah that his wife has had an illicit relationship with an other man; she flees from him and is found by the sultan of Rum, Muhammad Basah, who takes her in as a foster daughter; she gives birth to a girl who is named Halijah al- Zaman; after a while Sultan Marit, conscience-stricken, goes in search of his consort; disguised as a merchant he arrives in Rum, discovers that she is at the palace and writes her letters; Marijah discloses to the sultan that a stranger has written letters to her; Marit is imprisoned; Sultan Dzardzari hears that his son is in jail, leaves for Rum and meets Muhammad Basah; the story ends with the happy reunion of Marit, his wife and his daughter; Arbah is condemned to death. The text contains an account of the expedition of the Dutch against the Chinese at Montrado (Kalimantan) and the action taken against the kongsi (secret societies); the end is missing; employed by Arena Wati for his text publication (1989).
