During my leave in 1992, I completed the description of Malay MSS in collections all over the Netherlands, including that of the Library of the Royal Household. In a number of cases I was accompanied by the assistant Drs H. Zwart. Drs Zwart also completed the typing of the entire MS. Moreover he printed out the main text, collated it with MSS in the collections and made the indexes. Unfortunately the MS was never sent to me for checking and approval before Dr Noorduijn, hastening to leave everything in order before his coming retirement, handed it over to the LUB for publication in June 1992. He also handed over to the LUB all the other material I had used for completing the catalogue, including handwritten drafts, diskettes, and correspondence concerning the catalogue. However, my draft catalogue of over 1200 pages was not accepted for publication by the LUB. Meanwhile my book on the history of Classical Malay literature was published in 1995. After years of discussions with the LUB, in November 1996 I received back the diskettes and the initial prints of my MS in Brunei. After I had returned to Leiden, in May 1997, I was handed over all the material received by the LUB from Dr Noorduijn, except for the correspondence which continues to be preserved in its archives. From that time I had the wherewithal to take up the thread to finalize the MS for the catalogue.
