Conradi Bussingh; in Roman characters on p. 1); received from the K.A. The text contains the story of the daughter of Harun ar-Rasyid who is falsely accused by the Kadi, who had tried to seduce her in vain, and is sentenced to death; before the execution is carried out she happens to meet Syah Johan, ruler of Damascus, who is out hunting; he marries her, and after some years she comes to Baghdad on a visit to her father, in company of her three children and a minister; the minister also tries to seduce her, but she runs away and is taken to Egypt; the minister comes back to her husband and reports that she has killed her children; the ruler himself goes to find her; dressed as a man she flees first to Ethiopia and later to Rum; there she is elected ruler and takes the name Syah Johan; the above-mentioned minister of Damascus, who has stolen her goods too, brings these to Baghdad to offer them for sale; Harun ar-Rasyid recognizes the goods and takes the minister along with him to Rum, to seek justice from the ruler there; in Rum the dénouement takes place; mentioned on the list of MSS left behind by Isaak de Saint Martin when he died (1696); cf.
