to a rock, is picked up by a hawk and carried away to a tree; there the fish is found by a white elephant in search of a ruler for this country; when the dignitaries cut open the stomach of the fish, they find a man whom they crown as their ruler; the merchant arrives in that country with his ship; the ruler learns of a princess aboard the ship; while the merchant is in the palace, he sends two young men (the brothers) to keep watch on the ship; to keep his brother awake the elder one tells the story of their shipwreck; the princess in the cabin hears the story, opens her cabin and embraces her sons; suspected of illicit relation they are brought in front of the ruler; there the truth comes out; the merchant receives his punishment and the fisherman his reward.
