Topographic prints and drawings
Circa 10,000 prints and 1,500 drawings
The topographical collection of Bodel Nijenhuis is one of the largest collections of topographic prints and drawings, containing circa 10,000 prints and 1,500 drawings of topography of the Netherlands. The collection of foreign topographic prints and drawings, consisting of circa 13,000 prints and over 100 drawings, has not yet been digitised.
The emphasis is on topography of cities, including city profiles and images and plans of churches, town halls, city gates, bridges and other buildings. Leiden and Amsterdam are the strongest represented. The collection also includes prints and drawings of villages, monasteries, castles, country houses and estates, as well as history prints and images of archaeological finds, hydraulic works, funerary monuments and landscapes.
This thematic collection is largely part of the collection of J.T. Bodel Nijenhuis.
