Rare Books
Leiden University Library owns over 150.000 rare books printed before 1800. The Library acquired books in all the humanities and sciences offered by the University since 1575: theology, law, medicine and the ‘liberal arts’, i.e. philosophy, history, fine arts etc. This acquisition policy is actively continued, obtaining both digital books and books on paper. We take special interest in books printed in Leiden and books written by Leiden professors.
