The KITLV archive collection holds archival materials that were acquired by The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV). Housed at Leiden University Libraries since 2014, as part of the KITLV library collection.
The archival collection consist of over 1.200 western manuscripts and archival material (shelfmarks in the online catalogue begin with "D H"), dealing with Indonesia, Surinam and the (Dutch) Caribbean. Parts of this collection have been digitized, among which the letters of Kartini (D H 1200) and the archives of Arend van den Brandhof (D H 824), Pieter Brooshooft (D H 896), the family Douwes Dekker (D H 923), Aaldert van Essen (D H 1361), Jan Carel van Essen (D H 1362), Emile Gobée (D H 1085), Godard Arend Johannes Hazeu (D H 1083), Pieter Adriaan Jacobus Moojen (D H 1169), Frederik Willem Theodoor van Oordt (D H 1959), and of various sugar companies on Java (D Or. 712).
